The MK Panel: Putting It Together

Last week, we went over cutting and laying out the pieces for the MK Panel. We also said we’d be talking about assembly this week–so here we go!

In talking about this piece to start with, we noted that it will be installed outside. This means it has to be built for strength, the Hill Country weather being what it is. And building for strength usually means building with came–metal channels into which the glass is fitted and fixed with a special putty. For the present panel, we’re going around the outside with stiff zinc and using lead throughout the rest, providing both structure and the necessary give to weather the kindly central Texas days and nights.

Starting from one corner, we work out across the window, setting up one piece at a time and making sure we have the right materials in the right places. Of course, slapping came around cut glass isn’t enough; we’ve got more to do, and we’ll be happy to show it to you in the coming weeks!

In the meantime, if this is the kind of thing you’d like to see in your own home, please, give us a call at 830-890-1509, message us via our “Contacts” page, or reach out through the contact form below. We’d love to hear from you!
